3 Takeaways from the Food Safety Summit

A few weeks ago, the Allera team had the privilege of attending the Food Safety Summit in Chicago where FSQA leaders gathered for community, best practices, updates on regulation/trends, and some chocolate bars from Allera ;) As CEO at Allera, these gatherings leave me energized for the future of food and food safety. Here are my three takeaways:

1) Food Safety Attracts Mission-Driven Professionals

One resounding theme that echoed throughout the convention was the pivotal role of Food Safety and Quality Assurance teams. The transformative and high-impact nature of food safety continues to attract top-tier talent to the industry to keep food safe for everyone. I loved hearing stories from the unsung heroes, tirelessly working to ensure the food safety and integrity of our food supply chain each day on the floor. Even while traveling at the conference, FSQA teams continued to solve problems back at their facilities. After the week, I felt energized about the next generation of FSQA leaders that are going to make critical decisions to enhance food safety for all.

2) Food Industry Is Still in Early Stages of Harnessing the Power of Data and AI

Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) were buzzwords of the convention, yet it became evident that many food companies are still in the early stages of effectively capturing data and leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, production, and food safety. Despite the potential transformative capabilities of these technologies, there remains a significant gap between aspiration and implementation. It’s clear that there is immense potential for growth and innovation in the space, and we’re excited to be at the forefront of the driving change by helping food companies unlock data with the most user-friendly food safety platform.

3) FSQA Leaders Eager to Embrace  Automation and Digital Transformation

One refreshing takeaway from the convention was witnessing the eager desire of FSQA teams to embrace innovation to improve food safety and empower their teams. We noticed a resolute dedication displayed by industry peers to streamlining operations, improving productivity, and elevating the food safety standards across the industry. At Allera, we are fortunate enough to partner with leaders in the food industry to streamline this process of digital transformation.

Overall, our time at the Food Safety Summit highlighted the unwavering dedication of FSQA professionals to ensuring food safety, the transformative potential of data and AI (led by Allera’s user-friendly platform), and the industry's enthusiasm for innovation, automation, and digital transformation. The future of food safety is bright!
